Making a Whiplash Claims

When people think about being involved in a car accident, they tend to think the worst.  A head on collision, or a multiple pile up on the motor way, with gory loss of life and limb. The reality is that most car accidents would be classified as minor in nature. Of course you are much more likely to be involved in a minor accident than a major one, thankfully. The thing is that whereas if you were involved in a major accident you would of course be considering a car accident claim.

On the other hand for a minor incident you might not consider making a claim for injury because, well, all you suffered was a stiff neck. You exchange details and go on your way leaving the insurance companies to sort out the payments to the damage to you cars.

Unbeknown to you, however, is that the stiff neck is really a whiplash injury. A whiplash injury is when the neck ligaments are torn due to sudden jerking movements, while the rest of the body is restrained by the seat belt. The resulting injury can have a serious detrimental effect on the ability to drive, for example, for an extended period of time. If you are ever in a situation where you suspect such an injury then as a first step you should consider the possibility of making a whiplash claim.  If you are unable to drive and therefore are not able to work, then you should be eligible for substantial whiplash compensation.   It may not seem serious at the time of the incident and for many it may not seriously impact their lives, however, many whiplash claims are not submitted due to general ignorance of the nature of the injury and it is in your interest to find out more just in case you find yourself in such a situation.
